Y've good reason t' fear
th' stranger at y'r gate
Xenophobia
- Y've good reason t' fear th' stranger at y'r gate,
His name's anxiety n' worry's his game;
Th' dole n' the rape, the AIDS and the guns;
No one to trust, what a helluva a shame.
- Y've good reason t' fear th' stranger at y'r gate,
Anthrax and terror, th' bombs n' th' food;
Echoes of eco, breakdown, and hate,
Ain't nuthin' this world, nothing that's good?
- Y've good reason t' fear th' stranger at y'r gate,
Silence ain't golden, only adds to y'r fear;
Nuthin' to think, just an empty plate,
No one to listen, no one to hear.
- Y've good reason t' trust the Friend at y'r gate,
Cause outta the dark 'e shines his light;
Offerin' only what's good n' straight,
Rescue'n by faith n' makin' folk right.
- Y've good reason t' trust th' Friend at y'r gate,
No escape from the dirt n' th' mess;
But hope n' a future, yeah meanin', a plan,
Believin' don't mean ya' don't get no distress.
- Y've good reason t' trust th' Friend at y'r gate,
Wi'out him ain't nuthin', nuthin' makes sense;
If Love is dead, ya left with blind fate,
Nuthin' but fear and y'r hopelessness.
