Where did it go where did it go that
grace that once so free did flow
- Where did it go, where did it go, that grace that once so free did flow,
I take th' blame for Adams sin, th' awful mess this world is in;
My childrens pain, their broken lives, an' seem to pray so much in vain,
I'm th' one, th' cause of all th' woe, where did it go, where did it go?
- Where did it go, where did it go, that grace 't was mine I know,
So blessed, so free, so Jesus, my all n' perfect plea;
I know that I'm th' one t' blame, I hear their constant cry, "it's me", they claim,
O grace where did you go, where did it go, where did it go?
- Where did it go, where did it go, that grace I first did come to know,
It once was strong an' in full flow, now it seems so very low;
For all th' world and true belief, it seems there is no true relief,
The shame, the guilt, the sorrow, where did it go, where did it go?
- Where did it go, where did it go, that grace I thought'd ever flow,
A Church which once it was so kind, I thought that love was truly blind;
Abounding peace an' happiness, a life of utter lightsomeness,
Disappeared! O where's that glow? Where did it go, where did it go?
