Moral Law

posted 7 Feb 2012 13:22 by James R Hamilton

For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves. Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the meanwhile accusing or else excusing one another (Romans 2:14-15).

Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding (Job 28:28).

In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3).

Pressing On

posted 9 Jan 2012 07:10 by James R Hamilton

This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind...I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14).

Purity

posted 2 Jan 2012 04:12 by James R Hamilton

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's (1Corinthians 6:19-20).

The Last Judgment

posted 26 Dec 2011 10:30 by James R Hamilton

And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels. In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (2Thessalonians 1:7-8).

The Magistrate

posted 19 Dec 2011 14:27 by James R Hamilton

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake (Romans 13:1-5).

The Lord's Supper

posted 12 Dec 2011 01:28 by James R Hamilton

For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me (1Corinthians 11:23-25).

Baptism

posted 21 Nov 2011 05:20 by James R Hamilton

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19).  And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God (1Corinthians 6:11).  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost (Titus 3:5).  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14).
